Home Projector DeviceNowadays, many shy away from installing a projector, and the cost is not the reason: these devices can sometimes be a little bit tricky to setup if you have no previous experience with one. But rest assured, setting up a projector is not a difficult thing to do. By taking your time and understanding how both the device and your room should work together, setting up your new video projector should be a breeze.

Follow these simple guidelines and you’ll setup your projector in a few minutes:

Placing The Projector:

The first step should be deciding in which room you are going to place the projector. Not every room will be optimal for your projector. The room’s brightness and dimensions will greatly impact the end result. If your projector is well suited for bright rooms, don’t worry about a little light ruining the picture quality. Dimensions are very important too. Some projectors work best when setup to long distances. If this is your device’s case, try placing it in a large room. Also, check that there isn’t any ambient light hitting the projector’s lens directly.

Connecting The Projector:

The device has to be connected to an electrical outlet for it to function. If you placed the projector on an elevated surface, make sure that the electrical cord is protected so nobody trips over it. Next, you should connect a cable that supplies the projector with the appropriate video signal. The two most common sources are HDMI and component cables. Which one you will be using depends entirely on the video source. Nowadays most devices are able to display HD images, so you’ll probably be using an HDMI cable. Check the device’s manual and check, which sources it, can support.

Final Setup:

Choose the video source of your choice (DVD, Blu-ray, etc.), and turn on the projector to make sure it is correctly displaying an image. Make sure that the projector is lined up with the screen so the image fits correctly but doesn’t overlap the edges. This is easily adjusted by using the zoom lens. Although it is rare, some devices won’t have a zoom lens; in these cases move the device forwards or backwards until you reach the desired size. Finish the setup by focusing the lens so the displayed image is a tad sharp. Access the projector’s menus to make any final adjustments to the contrast and filters. You are ready to go!
