Lava recently launched two new devices and the Xolo Q600S is one of them. This is a low cost device going against the likes of Moto E and some other devices in the same category. It comes at almost the same price tag and offers competitive features to make it a good deal. It has a nice design and runs the latest android version to turn things in its favour. Despite being a budget device, it is well built and offers decent specs for its price.
Display:
The device comes with a 4.5 inch display with one glass solution that makes it very slim and improves visibility and viewing angles. The resolution is 960 x 540 which gives it a decent pixel density of around 240 ppi. This isn’t a very impressive number but for a low end device, it is pretty good. The display is an IPS panel which means you get excellent colour saturation and viewing angles. The brightness levels are pretty good as well and the display isn’t very reflective.
Design:
The design of this device is impressive and built quality is above what you would expect from an average low cost device. The device is tall for this display size but looks nice with its sharp rectangular design. The OGS display has helped keep the thickness low and it is just 7.9 mm thick which is quite impressive. It has got three capacitive keys below the display but they are placed at a distance from the display making it a bit tricky to reach the back key. The back of this device is simple as well with just the small Xolo logo and camera taking up the space there.
Camera:
It is powered by a quad core processor. It is made by Broadcom and has a maximum clock speed of 1.2 GHz. It comes with 1 GB of RAM which is pretty good considering many devices in this segment come with just 512 MB of RAM. The graphics are handled by VideoCore IV GPU. Internal storage sits at 4 GB which is pretty standard for most devices in this category. It supports micro SD cards up to 64 GB. Connectivity options include supports for two SIM cards, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB 2.0. The device gets power from a 2000 mAh battery.
Camera, Price and Availability:
This device comes with a 5 megapixel primary camera and a VGA front facing camera. The primary camera can capture some decent shots in well-lit conditions. Drop the intensity of light and all you will manage to capture is noise. The noise is most pronounced near the edges of the frame. You get a LED flash to capture shots in dim light. The VGA camera is just what you would expect, nothing special about it. This device runs the latest android operating system 4.4.2 Kit Kat. It is priced at 8.5K but for now, it is available at 7.5K for a limited period through shopping site. Pick this device for its built quality and design at a good price.
