Get the Start menu back!
Start screen of Windows 8 is not bad at all. However, if you want to comfort yourself with a traditional style of Start menu, then Start8 would prove to be a good alternative. This provides a customizable start menu in Windows 8 and costs $5. You do not have to worry about the installation and set up, as it is very easy to do.
Play DVDs without any hindrance!
Bad news! Windows Media Player is gone with the latest version of Windows operating system. If you want to play a DVD, you can do so with Media Center and not with programs like Windows Media Player. Do not be upset with this, as you always have an option of downloading a lighter program, VLC Media Player. Play your DVDs without paying a penny for it.
Confirm before getting a file deleted!
A feature that is pretty annoying! In Windows 8, you will not see any confirmation box before deleting a file. If you have attempted to delete a file accidentally, you cannot discard the action. Rather, you need to take the pain of getting it restored from the Recycle Bin.
To avoid such inconvenience, get back the confirmation dialog box. Here are the steps to do it:
- Right click on the Recycle Bin
- Choose ‘Properties’ from there
- Enable the option of ‘Display Delete Confirmation Dialog’ and you will be good to go.
Certain new features of Windows 8 seem to be headaches, but they are actually not! All you need to do is tweak certain settings and it will be all set and you can enjoy the improved features of Windows 8 interface.
